An introduction

Yes, yes, what is it?

What do you mean I have to write something too? Can't they just....?

Oh, fine. No really, I'll do it.

Ah hem. Right then, are you sitting comfortably? Good, I'll begin.

I was spawned off the coast of Devon in the middle years of what you know as the 1980s. As was the common practise among my kind I consumed my many brothers and sisters before they were given a chance to do the same to me. I grew fat and strong on their essence, but it wasn't long until I desired something more than this small, damp cave.

I left my nest behind and headed to the nearest town. There I quickly picked up the west country dialect and integrated myself with the oblivious local pipulace.

It was many years before the angry mob gathered at my door. The locals having grown tired of my strange nocturnal feedings. My home burned as I was forced to flee, wounded, back to the beckoning sea.

Travelling on the mercy of the tides and eddies of mother ocean I washed up on the shores of distant New Zealand. Here, I decided, I would settle and allow my tendrils to grow ever inland...

-------------------------------------------

Silly stories and jokes aside I am super excited to be launcing this review blog with my dear friend, Jo. It's been playing in the back of my head for a while that I should start writing reviews. I enjoy the written word, I'm an avid reader (and if you can tell from the story at the start, an amateur writer).

I've been playing games since the hey-day of the MegaDrive. But it wasn't until the Christmas morning that I unboxed my PlayStation and a copy of MediEvil that I began my life as a gamer.

It's going to be a couple of more weeks before the site properly gets off the ground with our first set of reviews. But we really hope that we can foster a nice little community and grow from there.

Introducing myself. By Josef Trethowen

Hello there!

As my first review is only a mere few weeks away I thought I would take the opportunity to introduce myself (seen as we have so many followers..cough) to the blogging universe!

I am very excited to announce that this little blog marks the first of my blogging career so if you are reading this blog, you should feel very honored, because I am totally going to be rich and famous one day. What does that mean for you? not much really, you can just say. I liked Josef Trethowen before he was cool!

Anyway, moving on from my narcissistic viewpoint on a seemingly impossible successful blogging and reviewing career, let me tell you more about ME!...

My name is Josef, as we have established, and I live in the quaint town of Drouin, Victoria, Australia, Planet Earth. I was born and raised in New Zealand, from the far south, Invercargill of all places. Which if anyone has visited Invercargill you would know all about it and what a terrible place it is.  Thankfully I grew up in Queenstown, which is much more exciting (if you have the wallet)

I work as a physiotherapist in a regional hospital in Victoria, Australia. I am one of those Mozzies (Maori Aussies), and I now have a little family of Mozzies including Australian born wife, one half bred child (already here) and another still cooking. Life in the country is quiet and unexciting, but we still have Wi-Fi, so it makes it the perfect gaming breeding ground.

Besides a number of other hobbies including snow sports, music, drinking pina-colada's and getting caught in the rain, one of the hobbies I am most crazy about is gaming.

I am purely a console gamer, and you know what? I am ok with that. As the sole provider in our household and a father of one and half children, I simply don't have the time or the money to learn the weird and wonderful world of PC gaming and lets be honest playing league of legends on the garden shed HP laptop on sale at JB-Hifi does not really cut the mustard. So I leave that world to my partner in crime, Craig. Sony preferred , but I dabble in a bit of Xbox from time to time.

My first gaming console was a Sega Master System II, which was actually my older sisters. I was about 6 years old the first time I played Alex the Kid and I have pretty much been hooked on gaming since. Since then I would say that I have owned every major gaming console since, and proudly owned every generation of PlayStation, including PSP and Vita.

I am a bit of an allsorts man when it comes to gaming, I like everything from Platformers to Shooters, Open World RPG's to Cinematic Games. What matters to me is the story. So I will mostly warm to games that engage in good storytelling, and good voice acting. Nothing grinds my gears more than a game that goes all out on being pretty, and then grinches out on substance. In saying that I can appreciate a good fun simple game, like Rocket League (most fun with pants on). I also have a great love for Indy games and I proudly support any homegrown (Australia AND New Zealand) games and I will endeavor to make sure some of these are reviewed.

Long Story Short, I just love video games. I wanted to give something back to the community and give my readers an open, honest, and uninfluenced review of the games I play. So you can hopefully fall in love with the games I have fallen in love with, without wasting your time on shelf fillers.

I hope you enjoy my writing.

Till next time,

Josef Trethowen
